Project activities of HO “PIRAMIDA” staff started in 1994 when humanitarian organization ASB Köln opened its office in Herzegovina-Neretva canton and started with psycho-social and emergency assistance. In September of 1996 SAH Zürich decided to continue implementing of started project activities that were previously co-financed through ASB, in their own name. SAH developed network of women's centers in canton as a base for strengthening women and economic development of the community through education and income projects. After Dayton Peace Agreement was signed, “Swiss House” was opened in a divided town as a neutral place where all citizens, returnees or domicile, who had difficulties in communicating again, can feel equally free. Task of the “Swiss House “ was to offer: all necessary information for returnees in connection with their return; psycho-social assistance through stationary and mobile counseling service; legal help through renowned lawyer; education in a sense of catching up to missed progress in war years; as well as reintegration of the youth returnees and increasing of competitive abilities in the labor market. Crown of the Center was Café club, the first meeting place for friends of different nationalities, a platform for dialog and reconciliation. It is a window to the world of expertise and nice word, and gives possibility to read newspapers from all areas of ex Yugoslavia. SAH gave direct support to minority groups' returnees by rebuilding four collective centers and by implementing agricultural projects as their contribution to return.
On the initiative of SAH Zürich local staff of SAH Mostar decided to continue implementing of projects in the future as a local non-government organization. So inaugural assembly of HO “PIRAMIDA” was held in March 28, 2000 .
